INDIANAPOLIS—Indiana has 85,000 unfilled jobs because employers can’t find skilled workers. To help solve that problem, the state spends some $1 billion annually on workforce development programs.
FORT WAYNE, IN--ElringKlinger is planning a $23 million expansion of its factory here. The company makes automotive cylinder and head gaskets, as well as components for lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells. It plans to add $20.6 million in manufacturing, logistics and information technology equipment, resulting in the creation of 120 new jobs.
HAMMOND, IN—Lear Corp. has begun construction on a new $30 million assembly plant here to make seats for SUVs. The factory is expected to employ 875 workers.
CHESTERTON, IN—EasyDial, a manufacturer of portable hemodialysis machines, has begun construction on a new 42,000-square-foot assembly plant here. To be completed in March 2018, the $21 million facility is expected to create 96 jobs.
GREENFIELD, IN—BeijingWest Industries Co. Ltd., which manufactures automotive brake and suspension systems, will locate its first U.S. assembly plant here, creating up to 441 new jobs by 2021. The company will invest more than $80 million to build and equip the facility.
ANDERSON, IN—Automotive supplier NTK Precision Axle Corp. plans to expand its operations in Indiana by establishing a new axle assembly plant here. The company plans to create nearly 200 jobs over the next five years.
FORT WAYNE, IN—Faurecia Clean Mobility, a global manufacturer of automotive emissions control systems, will invest $4 million to build a new assembly plant here, creating up to 144 new jobs by 2018.
DEARBORN, MI—Ford will invest $1.6 billion to upgrade assembly plants in Indiana and Ohio, as part of its commitment in the 2015 contract talks with UAW to invest $9 billion in its U.S. manufacturing facilities.
