LINCOLN, AL—Honda will invest $85 million in its assembly plant here as part of a multiphase project to improve manufacturing flexibility, strengthen logistics, and prepare for future technologies.

Gross domestic product increased 0.6 percent in January, doubling economist expectations of 0.3 percent growth. From a year earlier, output was up 2.3 percent—the most since the start of 2015.

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump ordered on Friday a comprehensive study to identify every form of “trade abuse” that contributes to U.S. deficits with foreign countries. “The theft of American prosperity will end,” Trump said at an Oval Office ceremony announcing the study, along with another directive to step up enforcement of existing trade penalties.

LEETONIA, OH—Humtown Products, a manufacturer of sand cores and molds, has installed a $1 million 3D sand printer at its factory here. The machine operates like 3D printers for resin, creating molds for metal casting by “printing” layers of fine sand.

AURORA, ON—Magna International Inc.—North America’s largest auto parts maker—said a border adjustment tax being studied by President Trump would probably hurt the automobile industry, while also increasing the odds that future factories will be located in the U.S.
