STERLING HEIGHTS, MI—Chrysler’s Sterling Heights assembly plant is a facility “with nine lives.” Targeted for closure during the automaker’s government-backed bankruptcy in 2009, the facility is actually growing. When a new paint shop goes online early next year, the plant will become the most high-tech shop in Chrysler’s portfolio.
WARREN, MI—A 61-year-old worker was found dead Saturday while working at Chrysler’s truck assembly plant here. The man, who is not being identified, was working on the line performing a weld-check when he was discovered at 10:30 a.m. slumped over.
WINDSOR, ON—The Canadian Auto Workers union and Flex-N-Gate have agreed to a three-year contract for workers at the Tier 1 supplier’s assembly plant here. Flex-N-Gate makes frame rails for Chrysler vehicles.
AUBURN HILLS, MI—Chrysler sold 171,606 units in March, a 5 percent increase compared with sales in March 2012 and the automaker’s best monthly total since December 2007.
