BUFFALO, NY—SolarCity has pledged to hire another 1,500 workers in the next decade at its solar panel manufacturing plant under construction here. That would be on top of the 3,000 the company hopes to hire when the plant begins production.
BUFFALO, NY—SolarCity is looking to hire the first employees for its solar panel assembly plant here. The six job openings include human resources and manufacturing management positions. The facility is expected to be one of the world’s largest solar panel factories when it hits full production in early 2017.

The state is investing $750 million in the project, while SolarCity is investing $5 billion to create a production facility at a former brownfield site where Republic Steel used to operate. The investment will create 5,000 jobs in New York State, 3,000 of which will permanently remain in Buffalo.
HAMBURG, NY—As many as 300 new jobs and $100 million in investment will be coming to the Ford Stamping Plant here to support expanded production across the border in Ontario.
LITTLE FALLS, NY—Feldmeier Equipment Inc., a fabricator of stainless steel storage and processing equipment, is spending $8 million expand and update the equipment at its assembly plant here. The expansion project is expected to create 80 new jobs.
WEST HARLEM, NY—Urban Electric Power, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and the City University of New York have opened of a new research and manufacturing facility here for advanced zinc anode rechargeable battery systems. The project is expected to create 64 new jobs.
