CHATTANOOGA, TN—Volkswagen is talking with the UAW about setting up a German-style labor board at the carmaker’s assembly plant here.

FAYETTEVILLE, TN—Nearly 1,000 union workers at the Goodman air-conditioner assembly plant here went on strike Saturday.

TRENTON, TN—About 250 jobs are expected to be created when MacLean Power Systems opens a new assembly plant here. The facility will make connectors, anchoring systems and other components for electrical transmission systems.
