CHATTANOOGA, TN—Volkswagen is thinking about introducing new variants of the Passat and CrossBlue SUV to the North American market, and it could assemble one or more of the vehicles in Chattanooga.
CHATTANOOGA, TN—Construction of Volkswagen’s planned $900 million expansion of its assembly plant here is expected to begin in earnest soon. The company plans to enlarge the body shop, technical center and assembly finish area.
SPRING HILL, TN—Magna International Inc. has started construction on a new, state-of-the-art assembly plant here to make seat assemblies for GM. The new facility is expected to employ approximately 75 people when it begins production next year.
SPRING HILL, TN—GM is planning to invest $185 million to produce small gas engines at its assembly plant here. The new engine will be used in 27 models across five of brands by 2017.
SMYRNA, TN—Nissan’s assembly plant here is the top-producing automotive manufacturing plant in the North American industry so far this year. The plant’s two assembly lines have produced more than 334,000 vehicles.
CHATTANOOGA, TN—Volkswagen is set to commence production of the new midsize SUV at its assembly plant here. The company plans to invest around $900 million in the production of seven-passenger SUV, a move which will create 2,000 jobs.
JACKSON, TN—Auto parts maker Pacific Industries is building a new assembly plant here, which is expected to create 190 new jobs over its first five years.
