LONGVIC, France—Guillemin, a manufacturer of orbital and radial riveting and forming machines, has introduced the S3E riveting system for high-precision, small assembly and forming applications.
With many riveting systems, engineers can only adjust the working stroke by increments of 0.05 millimeter. In contrast, the S3E machine offers an adjustment of 0.01 millimeter with a mechanical system. This is not an adjustment of the pressure, it is a mechanical stop that ensures a process with high repeatability and hysteresis.
The S3E is ideal for forming material from 1 to 3 millimeters, which is common in many electronic, medical device, and other small assembly applications. Overall riveting power is limited to a maximum of 3.3 kilonewtons. Nominal riveting stroke is 30 millimeters to accommodate the need for small component assembly and processing.
As with all Guillemin riveting and assembly systems, the S3E is controlled via an automation PLC and can be equipped with an advanced process control system that offers real-time monitoring of the forming variables (stroke, time and force) along with the data acquisition capability for signature analysis of the assembly and forming process.
