WASHINGTON—Manufacturing accounts for 28.7 percent of Oregon’s gross state product, the highest percentage in the country, according to the latest statistics from the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis.

SWAN ISLAND, OR—Union workers at Daimler’s truck assembly plant here have gone on strike after rejecting a $1.30 per hour pay raise. The union had been seeking a $1.95 increase.

TALENT, OR—Brammo Inc. will convert an old Walmart building here into an assembly plant that will make electric motorcycles and employ 130 people.
