TOKYO—Toyota Motor Corp will change the way it pays factory workers, focusing on their performance rather than their seniority. Toyota’s new arrangement, designed to attract young talent, will apply to about 40,000 employees, or about 60 percent of its workforce.

DECHERD, TN—Production workers at Nissan’s assembly plants in Smyrna, TN, and Decherd, TN, and Canton, MS, will get a pay raise in October, their first since 2006.

WHITBY, ON—The CAW has reached agreement on a tentative contract for workers at Lear Corp.’s assembly plant here. The strike had forced GM to limit production at its Oshawa Assembly Plant.
