UNION CITY, TN—Ergonomic office chair producer 9to5 Seating is moving its manufacturing operations from China to a new, $39.5 million assembly plant here, bringing 510 jobs to the region.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC—Ithaca Gun Co. will invest $6.7 million to expand its assembly plant here, creating 120 new jobs for machine operators, gunsmiths, engineers and assemblers.

BERLIN—Kuka Systems was awarded another major contract from Volkswagen to build a robotic assembly line for the rear underbody and side members of vehicles. The robots will perform such tasks as spot welding, dispensing and material handling.

NEW BOSTON, MI—Inergy Automotive Systems has opened a new $110 million assembly plant here to make plastic fuel tanks. It is expected to create 400 new jobs.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA—Trident Case, which makes cases for mobile electronics, plans to move 50 percent to 75 percent of its manufacturing operations from China to southern California in 2014.

OSHAWA, ON—GM will continue to operate its assembly plant here through 2016. The line was due to shut down next summer.

BELFAST, Northern Ireland—Bombardier’s manufacturing facility here, which produces carbon-fiber composite wings, has received LEED Gold certification for environmentally friendly practices.

HAGERSTOWN, MD—Volvo will invest $30 million to expand its power train assembly plant here.

MOBILE, AL—The Airbus assembly plant under construction here will be so efficient that it will be able to produce four planes per month operating five days a week, with no nights and weekends.

STOCKHOLM—Volvo has developed a new concept for lightweight structural energy storage components, in a bid to enhance the use of energy for future electrified vehicles. The new component includes carbon fibers, nano structured batteries and super capacitors.
