ROCHESTER, NH—Two companies that are partnering to manufacture lightweight airplane engine blades are marking the opening of a large production facility here.
CINCINNATI—Adhesives manufacturer Bioformix Inc. has formed a strategic partnership with dispensing and material handling expert Precision Valve and Automation to offer cabinet and furniture makers a faster, more precise, and cost-saving system for applying adhesives.
SPARTANBURG, SC—BMW will invest $1 billion to expand production capacity at its assembly plant here by 50 percent, making it the company’s largest factory in the world. The facility will also add 800 jobs.
WASHINGTON—A new FDA report notes that medical device recalls have almost doubled in the past 10 years. The most common reason for recalls in that period was device and software design failure.
WASHINGTON—Jobless claims decreased by 10,000 to 311,000 in the period ended March 22, the fewest since late November, according to the Labor Department. Another report showed the economy grew more rapidly in the fourth quarter than previously estimated as consumer spending rose by the most in three years.
LIBERTY, KS—LMV Automotive is expanding its new parts manufacturing operation with a $48.7 million addition that will increase its workforce by 166 employees.
