OSHAWA, ON—GM will continue to operate its assembly plant here through 2016. The line was due to shut down next summer.

HAGERSTOWN, MD—Volvo will invest $30 million to expand its power train assembly plant here.

STOCKHOLM—Volvo has developed a new concept for lightweight structural energy storage components, in a bid to enhance the use of energy for future electrified vehicles. The new component includes carbon fibers, nano structured batteries and super capacitors.

MONTGOMERY, AL—Automotive supplier DENSO Corp. will open a new $2.2 million assembly plant here that will employ 45 workers.

SALTILLO, Mexico—Chrysler is spending nearly $1.25 billion in two assembly plants here. The investment is expected to create 1,570 jobs.

GAITHERSBURG, MD—The federal Manufacturing Extension Partnership has launched a new service to help U.S. manufacturers develop stronger, more collaborative supply chains.

FORT WAYNE, IN—Auto parts supplier Coram USA LLC will invest $1.1 million to expand its assembly plant here, creating up to 35 new jobs by 2016.
