NEPHI, UT—Roger Boisjoly, the engineer who warned about a problem with the space shuttle Challenger’s solid rocket boosters before the disastrous launch in July 1985, died last month at age 73.
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC—Boeing’s new assembly plant here is getting much of its power from a 2.6-megawatt solar panel array on its roof. The largest rooftop solar installation in the Southeast, the array generates enough power for 250 homes.
GREAT FALLS, MT—EMTEQ, a company specializing in technology for airline cabin comfort and power systems, officially opened its new assembly plant here. The company has already hired 20 employees and expects to hire 45 more by the end of the year.
MOJAVE, CA—Stratolaunch Systems has begun constructing an air and space port here, where the company plans to assemble aircraft to launch spacecraft into orbit.
