OSHAWA, ON—Another 11 General Motors facilities worldwide, including the automaker’s assembly plant in Ingersoll, ON, have achieved landfill-free status. All totaled, GM runs 122 landfill-free manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities around the world.

NEWMARKET, ON—Six people were taken to hospital following an explosion at automotive supplier Dortec Industries’ assembly plant here. The blast was due to a minor electrical explosion that was isolated to one assembly line.

WINDSOR, ON—A parts shortage has halted production at Chrysler Canada’s assembly plant here.

PICKERING, ON—Siemens Canada has opened a new, 19,000-square-foot assembly plant here to make oil-insulated instrument transformers.

CAMBRIDGE, ON—The Canadian and Ontario governments are each investing $16.875 million to help Toyota retool its assembly plant here to make hybrid vehicles. Toyota itself is investing more than $100 million to expand production at the facility.
