SPRING HILL, TN—GM will invest $148 million in its engine assembly plant here. The investment is aimed at modifying machinery and assembly equipment to produce V8 engines.
MORAINE, OH—GM and Isuzu are looking to hire 150 new workers for their joint-venture DMAX engine assembly plant here to meet increased demand for diesel truck engines.
REDFORD, MI—Daimler’s Trucks division is planning to invest $475 million here to develop to diesel engines for medium-duty trucks. The engine will be produced at the company’s assembly plant here, which currently employs 2,200 people. The investment will add approximately 330 new jobs.
FAIRFIELD, CT—General Electric Co. will move production of large, gas-powered engines to Canada from Wisconsin, along with 350 jobs, to access export financing no longer available in the United States. In its latest salvo aimed at persuading Congress to renew the U.S. Export-Import Bank’s charter, which expired in June, GE will invest $265 million in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at a Canadian location yet to be determined.
LINCOLN, AL—Honda has opened a new state-of-the-art engine assembly line here. The $71.4 million facility will produce V6 engines for Odyssey minivans, Pilot SUVs and Acura MDX SUVs.
REDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI—Detroit Diesel Corp. plans to invest $208 million to add new equipment for a new diesel engine assembly line, creating an anticipated 245 jobs.
