LINCOLN, AL—Honda has opened a new state-of-the-art engine assembly line here. The $71.4 million facility will produce V6 engines for Odyssey minivans, Pilot SUVs and Acura MDX SUVs.
GREENSBURG, IN—A labor dispute involving dockworkers that has crippled international trade through the West Coast’s seaports has prompted Honda to temporarily cut production at its southeastern Indiana plant because of a parts shortage.
EAST LIBERTY, OH—Honda North America Inc. will add a second U.S. production location for the Acura MDX, investing $85 million into its assembly plant here.
ANNA, OH—Honda Motor Co. will invest $340 million to build fuel-efficient, gasoline engines here. The turbo-charged, four-cylinder gasoline engines are expected to debut later this year.
SAO PAULO, Brazil—A wind farm will power Honda’s automotive assembly plant here. Located hundreds of miles away, the farm has nine 3-megawatt turbines that are expected to generate all the electricity required for Honda’s annual production requirements.
RUSSELLS POINT, OH—Just six months after installing two wind turbines at its assembly plant here, Honda Transmission Manufacturing of America Inc. has reported that the machines are producing more electrical power than was anticipated. The turbines have exceeded the projected power output figures by 6.3 percent.
MARYSVILLE, OH—The 10 millionth U.S.-made Honda Accord rolled off the assembly line March 20 at Honda’s factory here. All totaled, Honda’s four U.S. assembly plants have produced 20 million vehicles to date.
