MOBILE, AL—One year after the ground breaking ceremony for Airbus’ first U.S. assembly plant, the assembly line is making good progress. The main buildings are taking shape, and the first employees have started their on-the-job training in Hamburg, Germany.

BIRMINGHAM, AL—A worker’s complaint about not being able to pass out pro-union literature and union authorization cards near the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant here was considered this week during a three-day hearing conducted by the National Labor Relations Board.

HUNTSVILLE, AL—Toyota has inaugurated a second V6 engine assembly line at its manufacturing plant here.

AUBURN, AL—Auto parts supplier Kemmerich Group has begun construction on a $16 million, 60,000-square-foot assembly plant here.

SHORTER, AL—Hyundai and Kia supplier Taesung Alabama broke ground Friday on a $6.6 million assembly plant here. Construction should be finished by May, and the plant will create 70 new jobs by 2015.

MOBILE, AL—The Airbus assembly plant under construction here will be so efficient that it will be able to produce four planes per month operating five days a week, with no nights and weekends.

MONTGOMERY, AL—Automotive supplier DENSO Corp. will open a new $2.2 million assembly plant here that will employ 45 workers.
