FREDERICKSON, WA—Boeing will build the carbon-fiber composite tail of the 777X jet at its assembly plant here. The facility already builds the similar tail of the current 777.
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC—After falling behind on 787 fuselage production, Boeing’s assembly plant here has hit targets set by management, and workers are on track to earn a one-time bonus of 8 percent of a year’s pay.
EVERETT, WA—Boeing plans to deploy robotic assembly technology on the 777X that will dramatically change how the plane’s metal hull is built. The investment will enable Boeing to increase the production rate of the 777 beyond the current 100 jets per year.
NORTH CHARLESON, SC—Boeing said on Friday that “hairline cracks” had been discovered in the wings of about 40 787 Dreamliners that are in production, marking another setback for the company’s newest jet. The cracks have not been found on planes that are in use by airlines and therefore posed no safety risk.
ST. LOUIS—The Boeing Co. has reached a contract agreement with members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers that moves workers from a traditional pension plan to enrollment in the company’s 401k plan and offers eligible members a signing bonus and wage increases over the life of the contract, which expires in July 2022.
