SCHENECTADY, NY—GE will unveil a new battery assembly plant here on July 10. The batteries are for backup power and energy storage in the telecommunications industry and for utility grids.
FINDLAY, OH—MITEC Powertrain Inc. has opened its $24 million assembly plant here. Producing 1,500 powertrain parts daily, the facility will employ 135 people by 2017.
WARRENDALE, PA—Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. has opened a 50,900-square-foot assembly plant here that will produce HVAC systems for the railroad industry.
DECHERD, TN—Nissan and Daimler have begun constructing a new engine assembly plant here. The facility will be able to produce 250,000 units per year and is expected to employ 400.
CHATSWORTH, CA—Boulder Electric Vehicle has leased a 27,714-square-foot building here last month and has begun tooling it up to assemble electric vehicles. The company will initially hire 30 people and could employ 150 at full production.
BREVARD COUNTY, FL—Luxury boat-builder Bertram Yacht will locate a new assembly plant here. The company will hire more than 200 workers and hopes to build 15 to 25 boats per year.
AUSTIN, TX— BAE Systems has completed construction of a new assembly plant here. The factory will produce electronic assemblies for military applications.
