MEMPHIS, TN—Construction of the new Electrolux appliance factory in Memphis is on schedule, the company’s top U.S. executive said Friday. The first assembly line will start rolling by the end of the first quarter of 2013, and full production will ramp up by the end of 2014.

LAFAYETTE, IN—Subaru is planning to invest $75 million to expand its assembly plant here. The expansion will add 100 jobs.

WASHINGTON—U.S. sales of machine tools totaled $496 million in March, an increase of 11 percent from February sales, according to AMT—The Association For Manufacturing Technology. With a year-to-date total of $1.35 billion, 2012 is up 13 percent compared with 2011.
