The new facility will be equipped with five lithium-ion battery assembly lines, including a fully automated one and one dedicated to large-scale energy storage systems. The facility is expected to create more than 200 jobs.

The goal is to reduce computational costs and accelerate Volkswagen’s adoption of quantum computers to develop battery materials that are safer, lighter, and more cost-effective.

TOKYO—Honda Motor Co. has established a strategic partnership with Hanwa Co. to ensure a stable supply of essential metals for electric vehicle batteries.
