GM Creates New Role, Appoints First Chief AI Officer

DETROIT, MI—Yesterday, General Motors (GM) announced that it has appointed Barak Turovsky as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, signaling a push to expand AI integration across its vehicles and operations. Turovsky, formerly a leader in AI at Cisco and Google, will report to Senior VP Dave Richardson as part of GM’s software and services engineering team.
GM sees AI as central to its future in electric vehicles (EVs), internal combustion engines (ICE), and autonomous technology. Turovsky's team will focus on enhancing AI capabilities in GM’s vehicle lineup, optimizing operations, and improving customer experience. The company has already utilized AI for tasks like selecting EV charger locations, streamlining dealer vehicle orders, and refining manufacturing processes.
