AUSTIN, TX—Tesla has temporarily paused production on its Cybertruck assembly line, instructing workers to take a three-day break this week. According to a memo viewed by Business Insider, employees at Tesla's Austin factory were told not to report to work on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (December 3–5) but would still receive eight hours of pay for each scheduled shift. Regular production is expected to resume on Friday, December 6.

The company noted that some employees would follow a different schedule and would be notified separately. However, the reason for the temporary schedule adjustment remains unclear.

This isn't the first time Cybertruck production has faced disruptions. Workers on the line have reported inconsistent schedules since late October, often arriving to find their shifts replaced with training exercises or other tasks. Tesla shortened shifts on the Cybertruck production line earlier this year, and demand for the vehicle may be slowing. Although more than 2 million reservations were logged shortly after the Cybertruck’s launch, reports suggest that Tesla is moving through its reservation list faster than anticipated. Some reservation holders have declined to purchase the vehicle after its pricing was unveiled.
