HANFORD, CA—Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc. has started assembling its FF 91 Futurist Alliance at its factory here. The luxury vehicle, which boasts a range of more than 375 miles, has been plagued by several years of delays.
The startup automaker hopes to compete against legacy companies such as Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce. However, low-volume production was initially scheduled to begin five years ago.
Faraday Future’s ieFactory is a 1.1-million-square-foot facility located between Silicon Valley and Los Angeles.
“It’s synonymous with a new class of production facilities where intelligent, connected and electrified products are created, and become part of a larger connected, shared user ecosystem,” says Xuefeng Chen, CEO of Faraday Future. “[The facility uses] highly skilled craftsmanship and leading-edge automation to rival the top luxury automakers around the world.”
