PARIS—Renault Group plans to operate the largest electric vehicle production complex in Europe. Renault ElectriCity will be capable of producing 400,000 EVs per year.
ElectriCity will comprise three plants in northern France that mass-produce cars, vans and EV components. The Douai factory will assemble the Megane E-Vision, while the Maubeuge plant will assembly Kangoo vans.
The automaker also plans to encourage suppliers to set up factories in the Hauts-de-France region, which is the northernmost section of France that borders Belgium.
"I am very proud to have contributed to the creation of Renault ElectriCity, a symbol of [our] know-how and technological innovation, and to participate in the enhancement of the economic and social attractiveness of Hauts-de-France,” says Luciano Biondo, director of ElectriCity.
