New Electric Powerboat Features Hydrofoils

PALM BEACH, FL—Navier, a start-up boat builder, plans to build a 27-foot-long electric craft that uses hydrofoil technology to reduce drag and ensure a smooth ride over choppy water. At speeds reaching or exceeding 18 knots, the Navier 27 will fly on foils, as long as wave heights are less than 4 feet. The Silicon Valley, CA-based company did not provide any battery details, but claims that that boat will use two 50-kilowatt electric motors.
