DAYTONA BEACH, FL—Medical device manufacturer B. Braun Medical Inc. plans to spend $150 million to expand its assembly plant here and add 100 jobs.
The company has already expanded the plant once, and its capital investment in the factory and a nearby distribution center has totaled $250 million so far. B. Braun already employs some 140 workers in Daytona Beach.
Now, B. Braun has acquired 35 acres directly east of the plant, and it is evaluating the feasibility of further expanding so it can produce a wider range of products. The plant currently produces intravenous solutions products for use in hospitals.
B. Braun has been awaiting approval from the Food and Drug Administration to begin full-scale production of its IV solution products here and expects to start selling products made at its Daytona Beach plant by the second quarter of next year.
