TULSA, OK—Whirlpool Corp. plans to expand its assembly plant here with the addition of a new $55 million factory distribution center. The warehouse will support increased production capacity and improve efficiencies within the appliance maker’s North American supply chain.

“This new facility will help us streamline operations, from both a production and distribution standpoint, and ultimately allow us to better serve our customers throughout the region,” said Jim Keppler, Whirlpool’s vice president of integrated supply chain and quality for North America.

Construction of the new, 798,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin in mid-November 2018 and is expected to be completed in December 2019. The project will support the creation of an estimated 150 additional manufacturing jobs in Tulsa.

Whirlpool’s Tulsa plant currently produces more than 2 million cooking appliances annually.
