BOXBOROUGH, MA--ETL Semko has added a new dust testing chamber to its laboratory in Totowa, NJ.

The chamber will enable the lab to conduct dust impedance testing of industrial equipment for compliance with United Laboratories and International Electrotechnical Commission standards.

The chamber measures 4 by 4 by 6 feet. To simulate dust, talcum powder, at specified particle sizes, is circulated around the product under test. The chamber is equipped with a timer, because some standards specify that equipment be tested for 8 hours or more. Dust tests can determine if a product is dust tight or dust proof.
