Motion control technology from Bosch Rexroth Corp. (Buchanan, MI) is at the heart of a new type of cold extrusion press being used by Bahco (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Establecimientos Nunes SRL (Rosario, Argentina) manufactured the 1,000-kilonewton press.
A electrohydraulic drive and positioning system from Bosch Rexroth ensures flexibility and productivity. The press piston is coupled with a ZSF prefill valve with predecompression to guarantee smooth pressure reduction and rapid free fall. In addition, it is linked to an integrated position-measuring system. The press piston is controlled by means of a compact press module with a built-in WREE10 proportional directional valve. This combination meets all customer requirements with respect to the press cycle-standstill, rapid outward traverse, smooth braking, in-position pressing, decompression and press piston return traverse. To minimize power consumption and noise level, a Bosch Rexroth A10VSO axial piston pump is used. To adjust the pump, a load-sensing switch and DBET proportional pressure valve are used. The HM 12 pressure converter monitors the pressure.
A robotic arm loads and removes the material. The robot arm can be easily programmed and quickly put into operation via a bus interface.
An Ecodrive drive system was used with Type MKD servomotors, as well as Type DKC closed-loop control equipment with surface-mount drive firmware. The BTV 04 visualization device, working in conjunction with linear movement technology, carries out simple operational steps directly on the robot.
A pneumatically controlled two-finger gripper loads and removes the material. The gripper reaches into the press via a double-acting mini-cylinder with a magnetic piston. Process control is by means of five-part, two-position Type 579 solenoid poppet valves. Air conditioning is via a maintenance unit. The diaphragm controller is mounted as a compact unit on a base profile, together with the pressure gauge, filter with automatic drain, and the fine-mist lubricator.
