CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI—KUKA Robotics Corp. has selected Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC, Appleton, WI) to operate the company's newest national robotics training center.

FVTC will teach 27 different program application and maintenance classes to KUKA Robotics' customers from across the United States. The college will also use KUKA robots and software to provide classes for its regular students on manufacturing systems, metal fabrication, welding and machine tools.

"Customers want to combine robot product training with process knowledge to maximize productivity," says company vice president of sales Bernard J. Sagan. "FVTC is a perfect fit as it offered a unique mix of academic excellence and real-world experience in understanding manufacturing solutions for production problems."

KUKA Robotics' college program offers courses in robot programming, servicing and cell design. It also offers students the option of becoming a KUKA-certified "Robot Professional." The training center will open August in FVTC's new Manufacturing Technology Partnership Center, a 10,000-square-foot facility located near the college's Appleton campus. As part of the agreement KUKA Robotics will install approximately $1 million worth of equipment and software in existing labs, and fully train FVTC faculty.
