WINSTON-SALEM, NC—Cook Medical has announced plans to acquire an old cigarette factory here and convert it into a new medical device manufacturing plant.
CHARLOTTE, NC—Three manufacturers plan to bring 639 jobs and almost $73 million in investment to the extended Charlotte area. Automotive supplier Tristone Flowtech USA Inc. is investing $23.6 million to build a new assembly plant in Iredell County, creating 302 jobs. Dhollandia Manufacturing, which makes hydraulic lifts, will spend $30 million to open a new assembly plant in Gaston County, creating 150 jobs. And, Sunrise Global Marketing, which makes battery-powered outdoor equipment, will hire 187 people and spend $23.2 million to open an assembly plant in Burke County.
MORGANTON, NC—Continental is investing more than $40 million to expand its brake systems assembly plant here. The expansion is set to be completed in early 2018.
MILLS RIVER, NC—GF Automotive and Linamar Corp. will invest $217 million to build a new assembly plant here for lightweight powertrain components. The facility is expected to create 350 jobs during the next five years.
CLEVELAND, NC—Daimler North America is seeking tax incentives to support plans to build a $38 million logistics center for its assembly plant here, which makes Freightliner trucks.
MT. HOLLY, NC—Daimler Trucks North America plans to sharply increase production and employment levels at its assembly plant here over the next three months, adding 580 manufacturing and 25 supervision, engineering and administrative positions by mid-July.
ASHEVILLE, NC—GE Aviation celebrated the opening of its new advanced composites factory here. The new 170,000-square-foot facility will be the first in the world to mass-produce engine components made of advanced ceramic matrix composite materials.
CLEVELAND, NC—Daimler Trucks is trying to fill more than 300 positions at its Freightliner assembly plant here, but the company is having trouble finding enough qualified workers in the area. The company has been hiring since April and wants to have more than 1,000 new employees by the end of the year.
WINSTON-SALEM, NC—United Furniture Industries is investing $5.2 million to expand its assembly plant here, with plans to create 200 new jobs over the next three years.
